I recently acquired a Fenwick 756 in as new condition. I used a WF6F and thought it was a fine caster at 40ft. I think the wiki recommends a 5wt. What do you use on this rod?

A solid six wgt for my casting style, ff755 is a sweet 5 wgt.

I recommend you try a 5wt and a 6 wt and you tell us!

For the two piece rod, I like a 6 or 7 line. For the four piece rod, I liked the DT5. They are different animals. Which rod do you have, the two piece or the four piece?

If you like a WF6 with your rod, then stick with it. Your opinion, based on your casting technique and your specific rod, matters far more than my opinion.

Tom, it’s a two-piece rod.

I felt mine was a 6/7. Not a 5wt, though it will certainly cast a 5wt. I like my rods to load and shoot.

I have the two-piece FF 756 and used it recently with a 5 WF line that had a 30' wt only 2 grains shy of a 6 wt. I intend to try a DT 6.

Would Jim Green have been the designer of this rod?

Versatile due to fine tip and firm butt, casts anything from a 5 wt to a 7wt.

on my ff756-4 I prefer a peach 444 dt6. I tried it with a rio gold six, a rio gold 5, and a peach dt5. It casts all of them alright, but the dt6 is the clear winner to me. I've also fished it with a scientific anglers frequency magnum 6wt which is awesome in close but gets mushy farther out. I like mine for bass and bluegill fishing when I know the fish wont be much more than 14-15". does great with big foam flies, will throw big foam/ heavy dropper rigs for bass or trout. great with a smallish (6) Clouser. hope you like yours! Mine balances well with a martin 67ss.

For the FF-756, I like a 6 wt line on my 4 pc, and a 6 wt line on my 2 pc.

I own the Fen 756 in both the 2 and 4 piece versions. I throw a 7 weight floater and full sinker with them.
Very versatle rods. Wonderful fishing rods.

DT5F on mine, perfect, I think it's a Scientific Anglers but the line is a good 15 years old so I can't be certain. My favorite rod by far.
