Yesterday was the Ruffed Grouse Season Opener so I loaded my gear and headed out. Note that I also tossed in my fishing gear, ya know, just in case. Well as luck would have it I found myself in the middle of some awesome grouse country and wouldn't ya know there in the middle was a little trout stream. The weather was too hot for hunting when I arrived so while waiting for things to cool off at sunset I decided to try my luck on the water. Well, luck was on my side and after putting the steel to a solid brown trout I picked off a few smallish rainbows too. Then things got really neat when I stuck a #12 olive Stimulator in the jaw of the first of two foot long Grayling. Scarce in my part of the world. Those made my day. Grouse or no I was trilled to find these two buggers. So check'em out! Oh and by the way, at dark I flushed two, shot at one and well, missed. :) Next time.......

My kinda hunting, take a couple shots, miss , and done! (not much of a hunter here)

But I love the dandy grayling. We have one lake a good drive away that has em, but no river grayling up here. Jealous.
