Some friends & I spent 10 days fishing in Colorado in early July. One of the highlights was fishing an alpine meadow creek. Between 3 of us, we caught about 120 trout on dry flies. Mostly brookies, but 5 or so cutthroat mixed in, Colorado River subspecies I think. One friend, aka Fish Magnet, caught the prize of the day, a 13" cutt. Alas, no pic of that one.

The scenery was spectacular; hopefully my pics do it justice. The icing on the cake was a beaver dam, where we took turns catching beautiful plump brookies before hiking two miles back to the truck.

I fished a new Troutsmith's rod that Shane Gray built for me, an 8'6" 4wt 4pc on a black blank that is a winner. Very smooth with enough backbone to handle moderate wind.

Looks like the place to be in summer.
All photos came out wonderful - looks like it was independent of the sun direction - the blue sky with sun rays is a tough shot to muster.

Beautiful stream and nicely lit up brook trout. That’s quite a backdrop…very nice photos and thanks for posting.
