Another holy grail for me- a 704
I have the 2 piece version and it is just a hoot to fish. I like it with the Cortland Peach in a 5 weight.
Thanks for great post!

Duderino - I wasnt too far from where you're talking about. Id like to dry that out sometime! Any smallies o that trip?

I also watched that 70-6 come and go. I was tempted to place a bid but Im trying to avoid "collecting" and I couldnt think of anything the 6 piece would do that my other wouldn't do just fine. I didnt even place a bid. I hope whoever it belongs to now enjoys it and takes care of it. I was surprised it didnt bring 100-200 more than it did.

Thanks again for all of the MT advice that has been rolling in from everyone!

Well, I'm gonna have to see a photo of your Mr Hankey mouse. Had a good chuckle on that one. I have a D series 70-4 and it's the only rod I fish these days that I didn't build. It's a sweetheart with a WF6 and seems to do anything I ask of it. The script on it is a little worn but says to use 5 wt all the way through a DT7. The cork grip is a little on the dainty side but okay unless you have huge mitts.

Thank you for the detailed review.
I have been interested in FF70-4 for a long time, but except for Hokkaido, this rod seems to be excessive firepower for trout living in Japan.

Thanks for sharing, there’s not a much prettier than a small stream trout of any species!

I bought a FF 605 in 1975 and have used it on many small streams as well as some bigger water like the Deshutes and the Metolius. It worked well on the streams and under the brush on the bigger water. I’ve gotta say though that I was a bit under gunned when I tied into a 18-20 inch red side in swift water.

I was able to win the bid on the FS50-4 that Rick Pasquale was selling on eBay

After I spoke with Rick and had him write up the story, I asked if he might be able to put me in touch with the winner of the FF70-6? We worked it out and the new owner of the rod pointed me to this forum.
After emailing back and forth I was able to work a deal and take possession of the 70-6.

I just love these little ultralights!

Clint - Holy smokes!
what an awesome pair of rods. Im sure Im not the only one curious to hear your casting notes on the FF70-6. I didnt bid on it figuring that enough was enough and that I couldnt fish more than one FF70 pack rod at a time.. but I know we all watched it closely. Its probably worth its own post if you are up to it!

Must be a reason Fenwick sold so many rods...just saying.
