This is "our" creek, it runs by the house then goes 5 or 6 miles up into the wilderness and a pair of lakes. Me and the dogs went up a couple miles today. Crick has bows and the rare brook trout and a few small (under 12") bull trout. Seldom do I get a 9" fish out of here, but life is good. Rod is a Diawa 6pc 6'6" spin/fly I wacked the spin guides off and put on snakes. A fun little beater, and the best bow and arrow caster I have. I'm using a real short leader, maybe 3ft.

Beautiful. Sure wish I had a stream like that running anywhere within 20 miles of my home.

Silly question… are those “garden variety” rainbows that originated generations ago as planters, or might they be Columbia River Redbands? Here is a write up with their range in Montana…

They certainly could be the real redband trout, but only a few streams around have the pure fish. There have been so many different brands of bow planted in the Kootenai river and possibly in the lakes up at the head of the creek, these are likely mongrels.

We have a border collie and a border collie/Australian cattle dog (heeler) mix. Great and fun dogs.

Nice, Keith!
