Anyone fished the Conejos in south Colorado yet? I saw the post on the Rio Grande by Aurelio and assume the Conejos is in similar shape but any info would be greatly appreciated.

not for many years, but both aurelio and paveglass fish there frequently.
I remember big pocketwater, and success deep nymphing chutes - some favorite water given my arsenal and skills with a Teeny line.
The trout wizards I fished with, including Billy Trimble, fished micro-jigs, but turning over the weight on a trout rod is right up there with sockeye fishing. I'd rather high-stick a Teeny line any day.

I didn’t go to the Conejos, but the nearby Pinos had too much runoff a few days ago. So did most other streams in northern NM, except the Cimarron had no water being released. You could check with Conejos River Anglers.

The Rio Brazos is good to fish during high run-off, because it's a spring creek.
