I took the new build out to my favorite pond. I'm really impressed. This rod is now my go-to 6wt.
It was able to cast the poppers and soft-hackles out 60ft when necessary, set the hook at distance, and still have the ability to fish nicely with just the leader out.

And the Pond has done well this past year. There are far more bass and bigger bluegill.

Excellent report and nice build on the GTX. I keep gravitating to the 6wt because of the versatility, but wish for more bend on the fish fighting end on things, especially for the ponds. The GTX is on my list of want to try/get rods, and it is good to hear about the ability to set the hook at a distance. I find the ability to set the hook one of the biggest factors as well as frustrations with some of my glass rods.

The GTX is now my go to 6wt (replacing a graphite rod I like a lot too). This rod completely changed my opinion of what glass can do for me.
