truly inspiring pictures from across the mountain west. I thought I would add a few pictures from the far west - the Sierra Nevada. This is the high country - there are a couple mid-elevation Sierra creeks here - around 6000', but the lakes are all in the 9000' to 11000' range. The fish aren't big, but just being there is really the reward.

Southwest MT late September 3 years ago. Waters shown are the Jeff, Bighole, Ruby, Madison, Beaverhead. My first and so far only trip out west yet, I felt like I was returning to a home I left a long time ago. Hard to explain. The landscape is stunning! I fished a 1st generation Barclay 75p, a McFarland 9ft 4/5wt tailwind, a McFarland 81/2ft 5wt glass and a Fred Paddock Signature 8ft 3in 3wt. I have to go back and am planning on a 2022 DIY trip.

Really nice pics guys except they make me daydream when I should be working (but I am self employed so no problem). I have a ton but here are a few from last years Smith river trip.

And a few from yours truly.

My night to cook for the guys - Big mistake. They really didn't like onion sandwiches.

Thanks OnlyTrout, brings back fond memories of my Smith River trip. Nice Northstar canoe, which model? I have a Magic that I love for BWCA solo trips.

Driftless, it's the Phoenix with symmetrical rocker - great for rivers with enough room for tripping gear. It performs well in the rapids. From what I understand your Magic is the canoe to have for lakes with better tracking due to the differential rocker. Any pics?

I've heard good things about the Phoenix, very nice.

There is a photo of my daughter paddling the Magic. The tandem is a Wenonah Spirit II.

Nice! She looks like a pro doing the J stroke with a bent paddle.
