I didn't know that the Guadalupe Bass were so full of fight for their size. That's a rush. They would be worth going for next time I'm in that part of the country. What flies do you use?
I've fly fished largemouth, smallmouth, and spotted bass in California's lakes. I've taken just a few decent size bass on a fly rod - one went a bit over 7 pounds - and they can boss a fly rod around pretty good. It appears that bass in current are considerably better fighters, pound for pound.
I usually throw an 8- or a 9-weight rod & line for bass bugs, but heavier does not hurt when there is wind. You hit those Guadalupes with a 6-weight, huh? That looks like a blast.

Great looking fish and amazing scenery. Thanks for sharing. I used to get down to the Tx Hill Country quite a lot to visit family, namely Kerrville area. Beautiful part of the world. Sadly this was before I got into fly fishing. Getting back down there with a fly rod in hand is on my bucket list.
