This morning was beautiful and the forecast perfect so I called an audible, took the day off work and headed to a favorite run in SNP. Lower trailheads were closed until last week and this was my first chance to get out in the park since lockdown - long overdue.

Numbers of fish were good and quality was outstanding. Caught several gorgeous thick fish and actually had 2 break off. A step up to 5X tippet solved that.

Fished a para Adams and a purple haze dry with no bias on the part of the fish. Likely could have cast about anything today and caught fish. Rod was the 64P with a 406 DT4.

Here are a few photos that capture the essence of the day.

Cheers.

Very very nice, G. That second char is a stud muffin!

Heading in that general direction tomorrow with a 70p in tow.

Thanks guys.

Good luck tomorrow Rob. I bet you have a great day. Water levels were good and lots of bugs. Didn’t see another fisher.

Maybe you’ll get to see a bear too. A park employee told me there have been several over the last couple days in the vicinity of the stream I fished. It’s breeding season and they’re wandering. I didn’t see one today but had one at my back yard bird feeder on Saturday AM. Walked up pretty close before either of us noticed. So cool to see.

Great photo's and that brookie is a stud for sure. Great choice on the 64P. Probably my favorite fishing pole for small tight technical water.

Ha. I do think about that. Been using my iPhone inside an otter box case for years now after dropping more than one camera in a river. Once drooped a 35mm Olympus Stylus and found it underwater 2 days later. Film was OK, camera was shot but Olympus replaced it for me. Maybe need to think about one of their waterproof ones.

Thank for the feedback and responses everyone.

Great pictures. I love that you didn't just include fish shots. Looks like a special place!

Man, it's pretty up there!!! Those are some drop dead gorgeous trout!!! And I'm delighted to see that an appearance was made by a purple haze!!! That's what I caught my first trout on a fly rod with, and it will forever be one of my favorite flies!

Wonderful photos of beautiful water and fish. I could use a couple hours of just sitting on one of those moss-covered boulders and listening to that stream's music. Of course it'd be tough to sit still and not fish knowing that brookies like that are in the vicinity. Just lovely - thanks for sharing.
