I've been to the carp pond, on a Phillipson with no name..

It's a wonderful rod, much nicer than a 3-piece Phillipson which is the only other I've cast.
The automatic fly reel was the first one to hand with a 6wt on it, perfect for tossing a slightly leaded carp fly.
I may just use this the rest of the summer..

Sure it has a name, DFS - Dry Fly Special

While 6-wt will load as far down as the butt will load, it should be very crisp fishing 5-wt with dries.

yes, I look forward to trying it on trout with a 5wt.
Lord willing and the rivers don't rise, will put a streamer on it early tomorrow and look for bass..

It looks like the rod has the classic Phillipson "Hammer Handle". Do you like it?

Check out the 'square' Garcia Conolon grip also. They look like they would be awful, but they give an extra bit of control to your casting.

I found the name is under the rod, hidden under the bushel basket as it were.. it's a Deluxe Eponite.

Works on bass too..

As I unhooked him, noticed a couple crayfish claws waving at me from in the stomach. I'm glad the bass was a greedy pig and wanted my fly too, he could not have been hungry.

nothing more the rest of the morning, tried the finesse outfit with a 1.5g spoon in hopes of a freak result, but only managed a very fine but small perch and a couple bluegill.

A real fisherman kept me company the last hour or so. Hooked and lost a strong fish in that hour, never got a look at him though.
