Me and the Dogs....

Me and Dogs hiked into Lake Koocanusa yesterday to the mouth of a little creek.
This is a 90 mile impoundment on the Kootenai River, about half in Canada. Have gotten really nice fish here is the past, only small bows and whitefish this trip.
Rod is a 5pc 8ft LL Bean (Lamiglas) really a sweet thing. Whatever line I have on it overloads it just a tad. Was wishing I had brought my WF5I along.
Popcorn and tea once I climbed back into forest.
And a flat on the way home.
Life is good, forgot about the cares of the day for a while

Thanks for sharing, that is some amazing looking country, and the dogs are pretty cool to! I went up to northern Michigan last Wednesday, took my first fall in almost 30 years, damn that waters was cold, then I got stuck at the parking spot trying to get out, oh well still a good time!

Great report Keith! Thank you so much for your efforts to bring us along. By the way I think you got your money's worth out of that tire:)

Ha, yeah the tire was due. It's out of round, on the other side the tread looks fine, took it off the front a month or so ago when it started shaking. I was excited to see that it was the flat!!

Fly rods, fish, popcorn, tea, Subaru Outback, Border Collies and a man with the handle of "majicwrench" these are a few of my favorite things. I have all of these except for a majicwrench, I have to take my chances with average mechanics. Well that is only right I guess as I was only a average Phish Tecknishun but, I tried to do my best.
If I ever get down South to North West Montana I would like to buy Keith a mug of his favorite brew to thank him for his great going fishing pictures, featuring his dogs.

Awesome report, looks like quite the adventure! Water is quite low, is that normal for this time of year?

Gotta love dogs in a pic. I always love to see Stella in Chris Barclay's pics.

I thought about a Subie but had always wanted a jeep wrangler, so got that instead. When I move to Montana I'll trade it in on a pickup so I can tow a camper.

And those 'little' trout are massive compared to what I've caught.

Driftless, they drop the water in preparation for the spring run-off. Gets quite a bit lower than in pictures at times. Is a fine tuned machine....they (think) they know how much water is coming in, and they do NOT want to spill water through the spillways, so they drop water X amount if they think X is coming in. A lot of different interests in the water, sturgeon flows, BPA salmon stuff, irrigation and all the other dams downstream.

Looks amazing and the dogs are great. Is that a white fish in the picture?

Beautiful fish, our stocked Rainbows are nothing like that and why I prefer to fish for our wild Brownies.
