Does anybody here have any experience with Art Weiler's Willow Glass rods? He is primarily known as a bamboo builder, but does make a series of glass rods. He seems to be well respected on the Classic Fly Rods board, and his prices are quite reasonable, for both bamboo and glass. Just curious about how his glass rods cast and fish.

I grabbed a WillowGlass 7.5' 4/5 from Art when I was picking up my new Garrison 209 (incredible, BTW). The Willow Glass is not as slow as the above experiences to my hand, I fish it with a 4DT. I have used it on the panfish in my lake with poppers and spiders. Fun to cast, and great fun to fight fish on. Even had a surprise 16" pickerel. Super fun.
Art's work is beautiful as you would expect. I may buy another (7?) in the fall.

Yo Cano - I got Art's 7' 2-3wt at a fly show a few years ago and loved the smooth delicacy. It is well named, and the build's workmanship is first rate.

I test cast a couple at a show a couple of years ago. The light weight rods were way to slow and whippy for me. I believe it was a 5 weight that was OK but still to slow for me. I recommend trying before buying if your not a fan of really slow rods.
