I got out today to scratch that itch. The good - it was above freezing. The bad - the wind was a sustained 20 mph.

Despite the wind, the winter stones were out in force.

I spent too much time chasing sporadic rises and in that wind casting a #24 dry was... challenging to say the least. I did get an eat and a long distance release that made my day. The dark arts produced quite a few fish, with equal numbers taking the pink squirrel and pheasant tail dropper.

The tools of the trade today: Lami Obsedian 8' 6/7 wt and Lami Honey 7'6" 4wt.

Despite the wind, it felt great to wet a line again!

Thanks for looking!

I didn't even try the non "dark arts" today... Simi seal leaches were working for me. And yes, felt great to get out even with the wind!

Great pictures and nice looking fish.

I never get tired of seeing the snowy fishing shots.

Of course today, it had to be 36 degrees, sunny, and calm winds.... and I had to work. I didn’t want to think of the epic stone fly hatch today.

Right you are Rudy! The best time to fish is anytime you can get away!

Yeah, it would be nice to get a stretch of warmer weather here. I'm not seeing it though, just more of the roller coaster ride we have been on.

Yeah, it would be nice to see the sun more, but this January sure has been mild. Did you fish yesterday Brane? I hit a brook trout stream for a couple hours yesterday. They were rising to midges - nice to fish a dry fly again!
