Dogs make our lives better, yours look like a great pack. Do they help with the retrieves??

Dogs would love to retrieve if I let em, but they are forbidden from touching fish.

I had an elkhound that used to fish with me, loved the importance when the fly line was piling up on his head, totally stealthy on my cue, and liked to smell the fish before I released them.

Great stuff. I love seeing the dogs getting in on the action.

For whatever reason, my Aussie is terrified of fly rods. I don't know why. She's never been hit, period, much less with anything that looks like a rod. She gets freaked out and bolts even when I pull just a butt section out of a rod sock.

But when we're XC skiing, she has no issue with poles or skis. I can't figure it out, and I can't taker her fishing with me. But she'll do just about everything else where we take long sticks.

yeah, my Akita would have no part of stealth at the river - never took her fishing after the first try, but the river was hers, and I was on my own.

Love the intent look on their faces, staring at the fish.
I have a lot of good memories fishing with my retriever.
