Hello
Was seeing double today while wrapping A Fisher for A Friend,Decided to take a break was actually a bit dizzy when I got from my perch.
Thought a little fresh air would help me to get with it,had to pass the rod rack on the way out the door, somehow one of the Phillipsons followed me out to the dock.

Low and behold on my very first cast I felt a hit almost as the lure hit the water.
Put a nice bend in My Dads Old Phillipson Rod.I could almost hear his voice as I released the fish.

Very nice!
Is that a Shakespeare wondereel? I have one from my childhood, but the handle won't turn. Caught a lot of fish with it and the glass rod that came with it.

Andy that is a very fine largemouth bass. The photo makes it look very big. Is that the largest you have taken from this pond?

As for the lure I have never had the pleasure. Slow steady retrieve?

Thanks for sharing!

Hello
It was a fine Bass for this time of year, been fishing the pond for 58 years now, back in the day the pond was completely private, all the home owners strictly adhered to catch and release, back then it wasn't uncommon to catch a couple of 10 pounders in a single trip around the pond.over the years we have seen a few in the 12lb range but those have been far and few between.
Few years back I posted a picture of a 10 pounder I managed on The Fly Rod with one of my Poppers the Black Cork Popper I made for one of our fly tying swaps.

The Mud Bug works best when you retrieve, stop let it ascend back to the surface, slow retrieve stop let it ascend back to the surface. Color is important, the water is clear as a bell most all the algae is gone,The green works best or the black and silver late season and spring before the bloom. No Trick Photography This Is A Big Bass.

it's the size and thickness of the lower jawbone that gives away a honking bass

terrific !
I have a couple of 2052s on the bench, one needs a new line roller which I did manage to find on ebay, the other has a cracked plastic spindle below the spool and will need some epoxy work.. looking forward to getting them rolling for the spring.
