Donny I did build it up. The 6'6" 3 wt is definitely the slowest (by a lot), followed by the 7' 3wt, 7'6" 4wt, and then the 8' 5wt. All resent blanks and all 2 piece tip over butt.

Interesting, mine are almost the opposite. All great rods to be sure.

Yes, all great rods! I hope Lamiglas starts to produce those blanks again. They have been "sold out" for a year.

I also have a Lami FF663 that's also the slowest rod I own. Like 1-2 Mississippi slow.

Quick story Driftless: I just finished building out a FL904 (7'6" 4 WT) that hasn't been off the rod rack yet but I can't wait to put a line on it and see how it compares.

I've been looking for an FL904 blank for some time and traded a bunch of email with a customer rep a Lami that confirmed the honeys are no longer in production. She didn't think they were coming back. Shortly after that email exchange, she ended up calling me to let me know she walked the factory floor and found three remaining 904 blanks if I wanted them. I did and I promptly bought all three. I built one out as a standard two piece - just finished it last week. One of the other had an irregularity right on the female ferrule that has me thinking I might cut the remaining two blanks down to make a custom 4-piece 904.

Jeffroey, that is sad news if the Lami honey blanks are no longer going to be built. I don't have duplicates of any rod, but last year at this time I finally decided I should pick up another 7'6" and 7' Lami honey blank. I'm sure glad I did now!!!

Have you ever fished a FL904? It is my favorite rod hands down! I think Paveglass (Donny) would agree with me. I think you will love it!

I too had thoughts of making a 4 piece rod out of it. I was hoping that Lami would bring back the 4 and 6 piece rods - that doesn't seem like it is going to happen now.

I built - assembled these two rods for a friend five or six years ago. They are 7' and 8', both two piece, for #4 line. CTSQuartz blanks. Shorter rod is a fast dry fly rod with progressive action, the longer is a real "noodle", very soft, with almost parabolic action. Difficult to cast properly! And I'm used to use rods with soft, slow action. But they are all in bamboo where weight of the material helps during casting with a slow rod.

Hi all.
My slowest is my 8 1/2’ 4 wt. Winston Stalker. Built it from a blank many years ago. It doesn’t get the use it should but nonetheless I like it.

we could combine this thread with the Japanese glass rods thread, though there are some Japanese exceptions, multi-piece and S-glass. .

I'll put another vote in for the Winston Retro series, especially the 6.6" & 7'0" 3 wts., although having been out of production for about 16 years, I don't know if they can be considered "modern."

Hardy Perfection 7'6" #4
Studio Thin line 7' #3
Ijuin 7' #3

Of the three, I think the Hardy Perfection has the sweetest feel followed by the Ijuin. I was never too fond of the Studio Thin Line feel so sold it.

My Red Truck 5710-3 5wt is a nice and very slow rod. Most on here would probably call it “whippy” but those are my favorite kinds of trout rods. Lot of bend in this rod and a six inch trout can feel like a 18 inch. I caught a few big Arctic Char on there and it really protected that x5 tippet.
