Until this thread, I didn't know exactly how many I had...23 doesn't sound like that many, especially when I'm missing the FF79 and FF786...I think I'd feel pretty good after that...maybe...though I primarily only play with the FF70-4C (backpacking), the FF605K (lake nymphing for trout) and the FF90 (steelhead or salmon)...the FF786 is hard to come by...I'm looking at an unused one right now from a local listing...not sure how I haven't stumbled across a FF706...

FF60 I36105
FF70 C15150
FF70 D36337
FF70-4 B13193
FF70-4 C17884

FF75 K48770
FF80 I44181
FF84 G67820

Well I just purchased an FF786 on eBay for $40. One of the guides is slightly loose and needs a bit of rewrapping, but I think I got a good deal. I see lots of FF806s for sale, and figured the FF786 was worth a shot since they’re so hard to find. I’ll let you know...

And I forgot on my previous post, I also have an FL-7 (FF837), which I don’t use much since I typically use the 6 weights.

So here’s my updated arsenal

FF70
FF75-4
FF79 x 2
FF786
FL-7

Steve

Not sure how I missed responding to this, have the following Fenwicks:
FF70-4
FF706
FF706-4
FF75
FF75
FF75-4
FF756-4
FF805
FF806

Use them all for trout, mostly dry flies, beadheads and wet flies. Find the FF806 useful for fishing nymphs with a split shot or two. Also landed four king salmon(little ones) on the FF756-4 in upstate NY, wouldn't recommend it but it got the job done as it was the only fly rod I had with me.

OK, Time put the list out there.

326
330-3
FF60
FF70
FF75
FF79
FF80
FF83
FF84
FF85
FF90
FF98
FF112
FF70-4
FF75-4
FF85-3
FF755
FF756-4
FL96-6 brown
FL 90-5 yellow (in need of a rebuild)
FL96-6 yellow (unlabeled, wierd build, but great blank)
FF 786
F7
FF856-5 (needs tip rewrapped)
FF858

And some HMG's as well
gff704
gff755
gff805
gff855
gff905
gff806-T

I've had an FF535 and I just don't have a use for it (or the ff60 for that matter)
The early HMG/gff rods are nice, but the later brown rods got stiff and a bit heavier. The even later brown , Taiwanese rods got even heavier (though not quite as stiff as some of the brown USA made models).

I'm focused on travel rods only. Somewhat limiting but they work better for my needs.

I have a FF75-4 which I've updated with a new Down locking reel seat
I have a FF80-4 which I will leave as is

What else should I get?
most of my fishing is for Trout

The FF85-3 is fun, sort of slow, and very flexy; so is its big bro the FF90-3. Both are 6 weights.

Holy moly, guys! Those are some Fenwicks.
Not to derail the thread now, but hey carlz - when did those HMG rods turn from gray/green to brown? I have a couple of brown ones from the mid-‘70s (M and N), and I think they are pretty nice.

I will check, but I am pretty sure I have a grey N. Maybe even S.

The "green" is interesting. I'm not sure there is any green on those rods, but they just seem green. The grey rods are smaller in diameter than the brown one's I've seen. I will have to check the fenwick book to see if there is anything there that points to when they changed colors.

I’d just like to point out that, per my “Rarest Fenwick” thread from a few years ago (viewtopic.php?f=3&t=58962), no one’s list includes the FF1200-3.

WHO HAS THIS ROD?

I didn't see this thread when you posted it, but I do recall one selling about a year ago on the auction for cheap, just looked it up- $130.38, Jan 2018 it had sock & tube-
so they are out there..

I know! I lost that auction by $4CAD. The exchange rate got me. And it has haunted me ever since ;)

Driftless, I just picked up a 756-4. What fly line do you like best with this rod?

I liked mine with a Sci Angler DT5, but it will take any 5-6 WF or DT just fine. Enjoy! That is a great rod!

The Fenwick Models mentioned in many of these posts... come in different weights, as mentioned.
The FF85 can be a light version to throw 6.... or the heavier version...to throw 7-8-9
( I always thought that they should have been listed as different models...)
My collection consists of
FF70, 75, 79(2 rods) , 85(7,8,9), 90, 605, 705, 805, 806, 807,
Till one knows what tapers he or she likes for a specific fishing situation..... you need to keep collecting...
Don`t underestimate he lighter glass rods(70-75... )
They are capable of decent distance casting, and catching huge Beasts...
Caught a 5 lb Pickeral on my ff75, throwing 4....
...Spun my kayak like a Top...!!!

I have the FF70 and FF79. I’ve owned a lot of other Fenwick's but these two are my favorites. The only other model I would like is the FF756-4. I had one and sold it. Bad move.
