Amazing brookies! I'm out to hit 'em for the first time this year tomorrow.

i sold my F601, had seller's remorse, and then found a very nice F652 at a fair price. i feel better now.
Such great waters for a light glass rod!

Those are salmonberries next to the rod. They came on a bit early this year. Kind of tart, but delicious.

I resisted the urge to eat the salmonberries I saw last week when I was out and about fearing they be on the tart side. Also, nice looking tuna can there!

I love fishing small streams. Most all the streams here in the driftless many would consider small.Image

Someone had set up the rocks in the middle of the stream. It looked surreal.

The stream just produced Dace for me, but it was a fun day on a small stream.

Unfortunately for catching this species, since June 21 the Dace are getting shorter ;) .

Small stream fanatic checking in.

This summer I pieced together a small stream fiberglass outfit, a Cabela's CGR 2-weight with a Bass Pro UL reel.

Image

During the height of fishing season on the famous rivers near my home, I retreat to subalpine streams, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd order origins of the Madison, the Gallatin and the Yellowstone.

The CGR is perfect in these confined and often willow-infested cricks.

Beautiful pics, this thread is the one that actually got me back into flyfishing. I picked up a orvis superfine touch 3 wt. Then a epic 5 wt. Next was 6ft. 6 in. 3 wt. tl Johnson that I really love on my little N.E. Michigan trout stream. I now have a steffen 8 ft. 3/4 to build this winter. I will try and some of cell phone pics here, but thanks for this great thread.
Mike.

I just got back from a steelhead/salmon trip, and went straight to my local small stream to decompress. Few people fish the little streams here, but I just love them. This time of year we get amazing colors, in both the redbands, which can be almost black, and the brookies. We're encouraged to keep the non-native brook, but I seldom do, since they run a bit bigger and the redband are doing just fine in the canyon.

Got out to fish a couple small creeks this morning between rain storms. The creeks shown are flowing MUCH higher than normal so they are usually quite small. I didn't take an fish pictures, but I caught several healthy little trout on some small streamers. It was a very pleasant morning. I hope you are all enjoying some fall fly fishing, too.

Looks like some tough fishing; well done! Pretty water in any condition.

Nice creek, but as said it's tough fishing. It's so overgrown you'd have to wade up the middle and that looks even harder than fishing from the bank.

I usually avoid creeks like that.

It was tough fishing for sure, but there were a few spots that had decent access. I just didn't have the camera with me when I reached those places. The pictures I took were close to where I parked. I'm hoping the water levels drop this week as our general trout season closes after October 31st and I'd really like to fish some of my favorite creeks before its too late. Time will tell.
