There was a point in time that I had three Thomas and Thomas Special Dry Fly 8ft 4wts stored away which is the only rod of any material I felt the need to have a back up of.

I have a T&T Special Dry Fly 8' 5wt. which I love and one of the few graphites I kept when I switched to glass. Found a period T&T fly reel by Ross to go with it. Perfect combo...

I've been seriously considering acquiring a second Driftless Special from Barclay, but since JASTrout has a rod I'd really love to have, I'll hold off for a while. :D

I hope his sale is soon and on this board.

Just acquired a triplicate (well really a duplicate - I'll explain) of a Hardy Fibalite Perfection 8'6" 6wt built in 1988. It's really a duplicate because two of the rods are much lighter and softer - eminently fishable with a 5 wt. The odd one out is more of a 6/7 and very powerful. It seems that the later rods, 1983 and newer are the softer, lighter ones. The latest acquisition has a downlocking cap and ring seat and that makes it even more interesting to me.

The lighter rods are particularly well suited to the river I have been fishing most often lately where a long, light line rod comes in handy.

They have just one weakness - the guides are relatively few and far between. It's tempting to rewrap with a greater number of lighter guides. On the other hand it's also nice to keep these rods in their original configuration.

I’ve collected two 8ft 4/5 wt Steffens.

Initially picked up a 2-piece to use locally.
Then added a 4-piece version for travels.

Both fantastic rods.

Good post. This is how I look at it - If I have three of the same rod I essentially still only have one rod. Now I do have rods that have the same characteristics with regard to use, now they may closely fish the same, however they are not the same, so I have more rods in my arsenal. Hope that makes sense to you - LOL. It does to me.

Two Wonderod 1290s, 7'-9". One lives in the truck toolbox or the Subaru, the other is mainly on the roster as backup. Probably not fair, I should rotate the lineup more.

I have 3 6.5' wonderods and 2 7 footers. All in nice shape.I am always on the hunt for another Cabela's prime 6' 3wt.They had a bin of them when they discontinued them at 25 bucks.I only bought 1 and 2 CGRs which i gave away. The Prime is a fantastic little rod and i have landed 2 bass over 5lbs on it fishing for bluegills.
