Hey glass fans, is there any intetest in a Northeast Fiberglass Conclave?

If we hold it at the Farmington River, Housatonic, Battenkill, or Deerfield we could draw from CT,MA,VT,NY, etc.

Let me know.

Depending on dates I would be interested if there was one on the Battenkill in Vt.

Pat and I had a chat about a clave this morning and which location to hold it at, all of them have decent water and a couple of places to base the operation out of. So far, it seemed like the Battenkill and Deerfield had the most diversity and best possible spot to base it out of. We’ll keep everyone posted and hopefully some more folks will express an interest and post on here.

I’m about 2 hours from the Deerfield and would be interested. Farmington would be cool too.

Thanks to all who replied -- it's been a while since our last Northeast Fiberglass Flyrodders Clave. Never been to a glass clave? Wondering what it's all about... Well I'm glad you asked.

Up until a few years ago -- think pre-Covid -- we held annual Northeast claves for years. The claves are about getting together with like-minded glass fanatics of all stripes. Rod builders, fishers, collectors, etc. It's a chance to cast many many different glass rods from vintage factory rods to contemporary custom builds. And with all of the rods, reels and glass fanatics, and the knowledge and expertise in one place it can be a great learning experience. It is for me.

Sounds amazing! If it ends up close enough for me to be able to make a day trip from northern NJ, I'd be very interested. Tough sell for my fam otherwise!

This would be an overnighter--- arrive on Friday, and stay one or two nights, as you like. We usually get cabins but you can tent it if you prefer.

There's always plenty of discussion of fiberglass fly rods -- vintage vs. contemporary, favorite rods, favorite builders, etc. plenty of time
to cast many new and old glass rods, and of course, time to fish too.

At the evening pow-wow around a campfire it can heat up... mixing libations and opinions about the merits and/or shortcomings of fiberglass... but in the end it's all good clean fun.

Reminder. This site is easy for anyone to view. General announcements, yes. But be careful about announcing personal travel plans. Consider personal security.

I once ran into folks attending a glass clave near the Willowemoc. I would do the overnighter thang since I'm down here near Philly. Or tie it in with a Catskill outing.

We did have a clave on the Willow in Living-ston Manor. It was I think in 2014 or 15. I'll be staying at my camp in the Roscoe area beginning mid April thru the end of October. If you are in the area let me know.

I would love to join you all again. I attended the clave that was held on the Battenkill in VT and it was a great time!

Hi, yes, agree the Battenkill was one of the better attended and livelier NE claves. I think it was 2015?

2015 sounds about right. Fishing on the VT side was slow but NY was good. I was able to cast a great variety of rods including a 8ft 4wt TMR that I imagined would be the most glorious rod ever. The heavens did not part with my first cast, but I did hook a riser with a caddis dry on the 2nd cast:). I now have a TMR 8ft 4wt of my own and it is indeed glorious in my hands now.
Great people laughing together around the campfire was the most important lasting memory of the clave. I didn’t “know” anyone when I arrived but I made some great friends.

I remember our first (I think) Northeast Clave at the Deerfield River. Had a great time! Would be very interested in attending another clave up here in New England....the Deerfield would be my 1st choice. Lou

Either the Battenkill area or Deerfield are good choices. Just need to figure out which spot and what time of year. Late May into June or go for a September (after Labor Day) to early October. Seems like we have a decent amount of folks interested.

Deerfield has my vote. Lots of good water with variety (small blue lines - major rivers). Sept is beautiful and a great fishing month.
There are a few campgrounds to choose from including Foolhardy Hill.

The Farmington River in CT is another spot worthy of consideration as well.
