Hello from Middle Tennessee. I am new to the forum and returning to fly fishing after taking about 15 years off. Back in the early 00's I got into the hobby of restoring vintage bamboo rods and was just starting to get into vintage fiberglass rods when I moved away and got busy... Now we're back near decent fishing and I have dug out my rods and was happy to see that I still have my very first rod that my dad gave me as a hand me down back in the 80's, a '74-'75 Fenwick FF 807 and a Phillipson Master that I bought a month or two before I moved.

I am now looking to find a reel to use on the Fenwick and it looks like a 1495 will fit the bill nicely. The only reel I can find is my Orvis Battenkill 5/6 that I used on my graphite rods.

I look forward to learning a lot and reading as much as I can, but also I look forward to just getting out there with the family and fishing. I'll let the wife and kids bet around with the graphite and I'll stick to the "old" fiberglass rods.

Welcome. I’ve seen a lot of nice reels offered for sale here in a relatively short amount of time.

Welcome to FFR. You might have success finding a reel for your Fenwick 807 if you post a message in the Fiberglass Fly Rods Wanted section. This group has lots of quality gear.

Welcome aboard! I love my 807 and use a Pflueger automatic on it …. While I wait to get a new SA bass bug line in the mail. I’m going to eventually put a 1495 DA on it, but the old automatic has done a great job as a “bridging” solution.

You can say that again! I’ve bought a lot of it from Seth myself.
