The main topic of discussion here is fiberglass fly rods. We discuss collecting fiberglass rods, the finer attributes of modern glass rods, the finer attributes of classic glass rods, classic fly reels, repairing rods, and of course fishing with glass rods. Especially the fishing, because that is the point after all. On the other hand, we don't discuss politics, religion, sports, news, or pop culture.  The tradition here is to keep the discussions on topic and courteous.

Been watching this deal for a while and figured I'd join ... Way back in 2002 i wrote a piece on fiberglass rods for SaltwaterFly Fishing. It was entitled "retro rod". Like to think it helped in some small way rekindle interest in glass ... I believe you can read a copy over at my site www.flyroddingthecoast.com

I own a fair number of glass rods for both sweet and salty waters. All are Winstons. 6'6" for 3wt, 8' for 4wt, 8' for 6wt, 9' for 8wt, 9' for 9wt, 9' for 10wt and yes a Winston Big Game glass 12wt too. Bought them mainly direct from Tom many moons ago, many are 3 piece and most are 2 tip ...

It is good to find a forum that shares my passion for fiber glass flyrods and flyfishing. I live in central IL where most of my flyfishing is for smallmouth and bluegill, but occassionally travel out side the area to trout fish in Iowa or Wisconsin. I look forward to the discussions on the forum.
