Hello everybody. I'm new to the forum here. From Sheboygan Wi. 34 years old. Great rivers here for trout/salmon coming up from Lake Michigan. I recently acquired a Wright & McGill 6585 fiberglass rod from my grandpa. Has a Martin 62 reel. I was looking for any info on it and whether or not it's still a sound rod and reel to use without worry of age/breakage. It's a 2 piece. 7wt. Any info is greatly appreciated as I'm new to the fly scene.

Welcome, if your rod is in good shape with all eyes intact with good tight wraps and no rusty eyes then it should be fine. Fiberglass rods are tough. Try using it, I learned on a Wright McGill seven wgt.
