Leaning towards 19-22nd. Believe we are going to be out of Alpine too which is very central to the Cutt Slam.

Let me know when the dates are firm and I'll check with the person I'm related to by marriage to see if there are any conflicts.

Got my Wyoming Cutt Slam a few years ago ......it was truly one of my favorite trips out west EVER. We focused on the Tri Basin Divide. I would love to repeat it.

Can we pin this to the top so it doesn't get lost?

Dusty,

I had to retire to deal with my 95 year old father who is suffering from dementia/alzheimers.

I was verily sorry there was no rendezvous this year, but am totally up for one next year!!! My brother asked me just last week if there was gonna be one next year, so I think he and his wife would come along, too!

I didn't make it to Montana this year, and definitely want to go next year.

Hold it, and they will come!!!! :-)

Have run into a problem. My brother, S-I-L, my niece, my sister, and her husband are all planning to go to Alaska on a cruise leaving the end of August. With all them gone I will have to remain home to care for my father.

As of now, I prolly won't be able to make it. I am very sorry.

The dates of the Clave will be August 20-23 with the main events (casting rods, grilling burgers, and hanging out) being that Friday and Saturday night in Alpine, WY. Pioneer Anglers is going to assist in the event and can provide guides for float trips as well as general info to the area. Pioneer Anglers are also where we will be meeting for Friday and Saturday. I would strongly consider a float trip at least one day of the week, I will be booking one myself. I know that most if not all will have to travel quite a ways to get there and would suggest that you add a day or 2 for more fishing. There is a lot of water in every direction and as you know catching all 4 species of Cutthroat in Wyoming is centerpiece to the event. I did this in 2009 and it is still one my all time favorite fishing trips and I wasn't even fishing with glass yet. I would suggest
purchasing a Delorme Atlas to Wyoming or equivalent due to the fact that most places you will fish won't have cell phone service.
There is a motel in Alpine as well RV camps nearby. There should be plenty of options regarding camping, as well as Hotels if Jackson, WY which is just up the road.

The Wyoming Cutt-slam Program:

Here are some books I would recommend for fishing the area:

So hope I can make one of these one day. I also wish we had a few more trout species in the U.K.

At least we have a few of your wild rainbows and brookies (yes really to the latter, but I’ll never tell!) to keep us going. Cutthroats are fairly high on my must catch list though.

Hope you can make it! Cutts like to eat dry flies. Should be a lot of fun.

I'm going to book a guide trip (drift) on either the 19th or 20th with Pioneer Anglers. If someone wants to split the cost with me let me know.

I gotta talk to my bro and find out when he's going to AK. Then I'll know for sure.

Looks like flying into Salt Lake and renting a car there would be easiest from the West Coast?

That is beautiful country and a great time of year.

If anyone is extending their stay and wants to do a bit of camping, The Greys river is right there at Alpine.

There’s not a limit on attendees and there’s no fee. No tshirts or rod giveaways. Just show up and fish!
