Just curious - if you look at total number of pageviews, posts, unique users, yadayadayada ... Is the Fiberglass Flyrodders board traffic steady? Going up? Down? Seems like a little less traffic than in past years but I wonder if I am not getting jaded.

no internet bulletin board sees the kind of traffic they did 10 years ago - FB, twitter, Instagram, even Imgur gets the younger traffic - videos, and attaboys with snappy memes work better in those media.

The real stuff of internet bulletin boards is the photo essay, question-and-answer, and discussion threads. The best way to create traffic on a bulletin board is to post them.
The TKF forum was all but dead, replaced by a FB group, a few die-hard people posting their photo essays there brought it back to life, with new members registered daily.
There are also always more people viewing the board than you could imagine.
But if you want to see some evidence of life on the forum, post something cool.
When people reply, follow up to keep the discussion going.

Summertime may also not be a good measure, since more people are out and about more often.
