Hey Guys
Y'all ready for another Glassic? I know I am!
Bud and I have been talking it over and figured it might be better to hold in late September or early October as the weather is a little cooler and more stable then.
Bud said he found a place that is right on the Brazos River that has plenty of room for camping trailers and/or tents. He said it's very clean and well kept and has direct access to the river. IMO, the rates are very reasonable. $15.00 a night for trailers and $8.00 for tent camping.
There's also another option.
Hold it in the Athens, TX (East TX) area. That would give you the option of camping (at Purtis Creek) or staying in one of the many local Motels. You'd also have the option of Fishing Lake Athens or Purtis Creek Park.
So"¦"¦"¦..what do y'all think?

10-4 on your choice. Remember that Octoberfisch is going to be held on October 17-19th this year (see link below).

Yeah, my son is getting married the next weekend (yes I've given him the free milk and cow speach) so Oktoberfisch is out for me once again. I was thinking the first part of October so JB could make it. Unless of course he's in the playoffs; then I won't make it ... Image

well, Athens is 5 miles down the road for me; but isn't the Brazos more centrally located for travel?; course i don't know anything about water flows that time of the year or who might be coming-p-

I am totally neutral on the issue ... I live 15 minutes from the Brazos ... wouldn't mind Athens ... never fished there ... I will say that the Brazos Campsite is pretty nice ... I checked it out a couple days ago ... I was really suprised ... great access to the river ... also yak rentals 2.5 miles away ... But as I said ... I would not mind a different location. If anyone is interested in a nice place to camp and fish some of the nicer water below Whitney Dam ... let me know, I can give you directions ... It is an honor system ... Drive in and put your money in the mail box. 8 bucks for tent ... 15 for a trailer/RV ... 1 dollar for daily access to the river ... very wadable, both up and downstream ...

All,
I like October may mid to later 18 or 25, because I'll be in AR for the conclave Oct. 1-5th.
BTW David who says you're not invited!

Hey Guys
Glad to see that there's some interest in having another Glassic.
Like Bud, I'm neutral on this one. It doesn't matter one way or another to me where it's held, just so long as it is held!
We had way too much fun at the last one (in spite of the lousy fishing and inclement weather) to let an event like this die on the vine.
Les
It's going to have to be the last week in September, or the first or last week in October, so that it doesn't conflict with events that are already scheduled.
David
Sorry Mi Amigo, we'd sure like to see you at one of these.

I don't know anything about either of the proposed spots, but I'd like to attend. October would be better for me.

Oh, you mean *that* Brazos River! The one where we had the last conclave. I didn't realize it was the source of Lake Whitney. Man, am I dumb.

OK by me. Cool weather and nice sized fish preferred. Glenn

I'm in. My preference would be the Brazos, but I'm easy to please; Athens would be OK also. Set some dates; unless something really catastrophic or spectacular occurs at that time, I'll be there. I'm sure Kurt (Catmanjack) will be available for the trip too.

Good to hear from you.
Judging from the e-mails/PM's that I've received and the posts on the board, it's looking more and more like the 08' Glassic is going to be held in late October rather than the end of September. Gene (pearow) also brought up a good point about the Brazos being more centrally located for those that would like to attend. The property that Bud found on the Brazos (below Whitney Dam) sounds like it would be ideal for the event.

Barry; you are DA MAN! just set a date, firm up the site with Bud; and we'll be there. There's no date that can accomodate everyone. Look at the events already scheduled and make the decision; then let everybody VENT! ... HA!-p-

I agree with you when you said " There's no date that can accommodate everyone". However, I'd like to pick a date and place that's convenient to the most people involved. I'll give it a little while longer to get as much feedback as possible, and then post the final date and place.

The last week in October, there is a guy in my office who already has dibs on that week to go deer hunting. Since he helps teach judo, I'm not really certain I can wrestle him out of it. However, I can try to get away early on a Friday. Almost any other week in that month is unclaimed so far, but I understand some of the other guys are committed at some of those times. Just name a date and I'll make it if I have to sneak away.

Larry
