I have been a Northern California grape grower all of my life. Grapes for wine that is. I make wine for home, family and friends. I currently grow grapes for Stuhlmuller Vineyards. Steelheading is my passion and my first fly rods were fiberglass. My favorite rods are still fiberglass.

I am a vineyard manager 30 years, wine grape consultant 30 years, bamboo rod restorer 5 years, rod collector 50 years. I've worked as a biologist, grape broker, equipment operator and landscape manager. Mostly as it (jobs) relates to the wine grape industry.

I was in the Sport Fishing Industry from 1989 until the end of 2006, started out working at my favourite shop, did some freshwater guiding, wrote a fishing column and then was a Manufactures rep from 1991 to 1995. I then worked at a large fishing/hunting distributor where I ran the order desk and helped manage the sales reps. In 2000 I again went back to repping until the beginning of a long and tasteless divorce forced me to resign at the end of 2006. Since then I have dealt with major health issues including having to be revived from a botched surgery during which I had a heart attack. For the last three years I have been a single parent of two great teenagers and with my health improving probably headed back to the fishing biz in some form.

Full time potter. I make and sell functional stoneware at art fairs around the US. I also make fish from clay to hang on your wall. My avatar is a photo of one of my products. I take care of my three boys and occasionally do things for my engineering wife.

I'm a salesman involved in oil & gas pipeline construction. Have to travel a bunch. Instead of "happy hour" I seek out fly shops where ever I'm out. Did a swing from Philly to Pittsburgh last week and popped into 4 great great shops, Exton, Reading, Harrisburg and Pittsburgh. Great people and good fun.

Haven't been in a fly shop where there wasn't something I couldn't live without.

craigc,
Welcome to the Fiberglass Flyrodders! Lots of friendly folks here and a pleasant distraction from the daily grind ... being a high school teacher, you have my deepest sympathy. :D

Interesting to see the number of retired people as well as police officers. I am also a full time officer. I work as a cross between a game warden and county police officer in an urban environment. Trying to make it as a popper genius one popper at a time. :D

Trying to add photography to the hobby list but thus far I haven't been able to migrate beyond the "you suck" stage.

Lets see.. Went to school for network technology, I have been a union sheet metal worker, union floor layer, union Laborer, Laborer Foreman, Operated a CNC machine, Printer, Account manager for Pepsi Cola, Cleaned Air ducts and carpet, Sold TV's, Freelance photography.. I should mention I am 31. Ha. Kind of a free spirit. As long as I can fish and take photos I am happy. Currently I am basically unemployed and make due selling on ebay. Had a few health problems evaluated life and my sanity. Sold everything I owned. Moved to my property where I could be closer to all of the good fishing spots. Loving life having almost nothing. I don't even own a TV!

I noticed we had a few psychs here.. I may know you.. haha.. Made a lot of mistakes and been through a lot. Made a lot of money, been really broke. Now I am just trying to focus on myself, be happy and "live".

When I say mistakes I should point out, absolutely no drugs. I don't need drugs to be crazy. Ha.

Im rertired from GM, worked in whole bunch of different plants, but retired from gmspo, hence the partsman thing. Im currently working at a Ace hardware, which is starting to old. I would rather be dog training and fishing.

I am a full time fishing guide and fly tyer. Im also in the national guard and have been for eleven years. I got hurt in Afghanistan this last year so Im staying at a rehab center on Fort Drum for the next six months in upstate New York If I wasn't here I would also be working at a fly shop like I have been the last ten years or so either in the Adirondacks which is where I was working before my surgery or in the Catskills where I worked in a shop in the MId Hudson area. Now I have to decide which one to go back to ...
