Hi pgbuilt1,

Welcome! Sounds like you're livin' the life up there in the state of my youth. Once lived in another place, crossroads town where there were pairs of thin white lines painted on the asphalt on three of the four roads out of town. The lines were, somehow, 1/4 mile apart...

Shoot some birds this fall! Nothing like some fried pahtridge breast.

Greetings Tomah , keeping life interesting I suppose , and the wallet sparse , but you’re correct times 10 with those tasty little critters , best part now is that some years back they extended the fishing season at Upper Dam through Oct 30th , it’s just difficult trying to figure out if we want to bird hunt in the morning and fish in the afternoon , or vice versa , either way it’s the best of both worlds , especially on those beautiful Falls Days , you know , before Ole Man Winter kicks in ...

Very similar to Colorado in many respects , just the mountains aren’t quite as big ... Take Care Tomah

I teach high school World History, and in the past I've taught English as a Second/Foreign Language both here in the States and overseas. I'm currently working on a new degree and the certifications to transition into a new career in computer science (what I should have majored in 30 years ago!).

I'll finally post on this thread, Started out in US Army, college, Union Sheetmetal worker, now 17 years in as Firefighter/Paramedic, able to retire in 3 years. While my side business is building rods, I do some guiding here and there. Flyfishing since my late teens, no better therapy and the friends that I have come to share water and stories with.

Welcome jhill. History of Manufacturing Technology is a great realm of study in the field of history, economics, or literature, and the "plastics revolution" as represented by the development of fiberglass recreational products is a fascinating part of it. We have great people here, some from the dawn of that era, some new "students" of it, and many from in between. Hope you enjoy it.

Tile setter and stay at home dad here. I know folks from all walks of life that like to throw flies. It's just an enjoyable thing to do.

Electrical Engineer for 19 years, 10 more years to go.

Fly fisherman since 2014, I'm pretty obsessed about it. Recently started learning about rod building and finished my 1st build last week.

I also sell flies online. I like tying as much as I like fly fishing. Make enough to keep trying new materials or gear.

I'm retired (for now, depending on how my financial situation goes). I spent four years as a Navy journalist then 26 years as a US Postal Service letter carrier.

I'm an old fly fisherman but new to fiberglass this year.

Tight lines,

I am amazed at the diversity of ages and occupations seen here. Says a lot about fishing as a hobby. I am an old-timer who has actually been fishing for more than 70 years. Growing up I thought everyone fished. I am always surprised to meet folks in their 30's who are new to fishing. I am retired. I was an officer in the Army, a YMCA boy's camp director and spent the last 30 years of my working life as an Outdoor Education Director for Toledo Public Schools before retiring 20 years ago.

14 years in retail (Sears, K-Mart, Wal-mart), 7 years loading trucks for U.P.S., 23 3/4 years as a deputy sheriff.

Retired now, had to retire to help take care of my 95 year old father after his wife died early last year. Early onset of dementia/alzheimers.

I'll stick around until he passes, then sell his house and move West. Gonna try for Dillon, if my knees (moderate arthritis) can take it. If not, then the plan is to drop down and prolly live in Utah.

Gene,
I hope you manage to get more fishing time out of your retirement than I do. Welcome to the board.

Recently retired DOT safety officer. Glad to no longer live by the 4 AM alarm clock. Unless one of the grandkids suggests an early fishing departure...
