I worked doing cops & robbers stuff (I was the former) for 44 years, a city LEO, a member of the EP Unit for a large bank, and a workplace violence and risk assessment specialist for an insurance company. Now I collect a couple of pensions and social security. After finally retiring (3rd time is the charm), I spend my time training and hunting with my wirehaired pointing griffon, fishing the waters in Montana, responding in the affirmative to requests & orders from the person to whom I am related by marriage, and pushing snow around the house between November and March (mid April this year).

That is a new one on me. I think it replaces SWMBO (She who must be obeyed).

Sounds like you are living the dream.

I'm retired (for now, depending on how my financial situation goes). I spent four years as a Navy journalist then 26 years as a US Postal Service letter carrier.

I'm an old fly fisherman but new to fiberglass this year.

Tight lines,
Bob

Carlz, many years ago, a college math major referred to my wife as my "spousal unit", that she has been ever since.

Thanks for the welcome. This site is great.
The wife is out of town in WA visiting our son so it might be a good weekend to get out to the local Cabelas and pick up one of those CGR's that are on sale now!

I am an electrical contractor who should be retired. Just waiting on the kids to buy me out, whenever that is. Like fumbling around with fiberglass and bamboo and the other stuff when in the salt. I don't push any snow around - at least not in the last 40 years. I do a lot of garden weeding for the mother of my kids, though.

I am a serving Army Officer (in New Zealand) and have been for 20 years. I have been fishing since I could walk, and fly fishing since I was about 16. Grew up in a trout-mad family around New Zealand's Lake Taupo - and have been fishing the region ever since. Now 41 with a couple of girls - and an ex-wife! Recently started building glass rods as a hobby - but as it is an expensive hobby (and a man only needs so many rods,...apparently) I have also started selling them.

Look me up if you are ever travelling to New Zealand and looking for advice on fishing around the Lake Taupo area. The Tongariro River still claims to be the best wild-rainbow fishery in the world. Not sure about all that,...but it's pretty epic nonetheless!

Expensive hobby, yes, and so many rods -- but just one more! New Zealand would be a dream trip; I've admired photos and fishing reports from your country since I was a kid. Not much chance at my age, but I would take you up on your offer should a miracle happen.

Relatively new to the forum, interesting thread, so this is who I am, Jr. High geography/economics teacher, girls basketball coach and boys track coach. In my 28th year, still loving it! My grandpa introduced me to fly fishing on Berkley glass rods when I was a young boy. Still think of him every time I go!

Hello there, great to be here on the forum!
I started fly fishing just 5 years ago, and I have never been fishing with other techniques before that.
In my life, I am a Project Manager for a big company that produces spirits, i have been doing this since 2006 (recently changed company, but still same role)
I have to say it's pretty fun to work on development for what people are drinking to have fun! :)

Haven't tried the Tincup or other regional whiskeys. I like Buffalo Trace bourbon, Talisker scotch (now priced beyond me), Laphroiag scotch, Jack Daniels Gentleman Jack, Tito's vodka -- all pretty mainstream stuff.

I bought a bottle of Jack Daniels 1989 Gold Medal maybe 25 years ago for about 20 dollars. I saw a bottle in Lynchburg, Tenn. a few years back priced at $170. What to do? I can't sell it (against the law), so I guess I'll just have to open it one of these days and drink it.

Talisker is my favorite dram, as well as Lagavulin. I have worked for the company that produces them and I have been to Talisker distillery a couple of times, amazing place.
last addition to my bar are 2 bottles of the Classic Malts for Game of Thrones collection, check them on google. I got the Talisker and the Oban.
I have never left a bottle unopened, it just doesn't work for me, whisky needs to be adored by drinking and smelling it, not by looking at it :lol

Interesting thread. Afraid I cannot add much to the interesting stuff on here. Lawyer for 40 years, first 19 as a business litigator, last 21 as a mediator and arbitrator in business disputes, mostly involving healthcare, financial, and technology industries. It allows for great sched flexibility. Last few years i fished 50 days, and i aspire to do more. Coached a lot of baseball and basketball when kids were young many years ago, and have taught some meager skills to some kids about fishing along the ways including most recently my 2 y.o. granddaughter!

28 year old software consultant. Plenty of time on the computer leads to plenty of research of new places to fish and new gear to try out. Looking forward to teaching my baby daughter how to fish one day.
