I know this has beat to death, mostly with a variety of methods, but I want to add a new one. I had a rod that had the FF type ferrules and it was really stuck together. I usually wrap a hot water soaked small sponge around the outside and that mostly does the trick, best for metal ferrules, but I just used a pair of brown jersey gloves with the little rubber dots on the palm side and boy does that allow you to grip the rod sections. It may force too much pressure on metal ferrules though. Glenn

Yes, there is a lengthy thread back there somewhere. Most favored gripping the sections behind the legs and that adds a lot of leverage for pulling. My gloves just have a tremendous amount of friction and prevent slippage so expended energy can be used for pulling. Glenn

I like to use those rubber jar openers. Same idea as the rubber gloves, gives a much better grip.
