Count me in! I love fishing the White & North Fork and have stayed at the River of Life Farms. Myron was a fine host and the lodging was excellent. The Rainbows are Steelhead sized and the Browns of the North Fork & White are hogs. My best is only 27" but my buddy caught & released a 34"er. The fishing is unreal. Mostly in the middle of the night, but very exciting. Mamouth Springs also has a good stocking of nice rainbows and browns if the generators are running. I usually go between Nov-Feb, but September could be good, just not as many spawning browns. Dale Fulton at Blue Ribbon Fly Shop will tell us what's happening at that time of year.

I think we could handle a few Texans! Also, as I get any information, I will pass it along.

Ok, I got the name of a campground in the area where Bryant Creek and the North Fork of the White come together.

Tecumseh Park

Low prices, first come/first served, Corps of Engineers owned, there is a convenience store really close for all of the drinks, food, and gas anyone would need.

Bryant Creek is warmwater fishing, in fact it is great smallmouth water, and the NFOW is trout water at the point in the river. There is space for everything, grass for casting, trees for shade, ample float room for tubes or toons, yaks or canoes.

Can't wait to meet everyone and catch a few fish with you!

Thank you Cameron! I am psyched about getting this rolling. I am planning on camping down there for at least a night or two and doing some warmwater smallmouth fishing along with LOTS of trout on streamers.

Sept. 12-13 is coming quicker than anticipated!

September 13th and 14th of '08 (or thereabouts?) I'll be planning to come down from Indianapolis.

Fish on!

Sounds good, it will be nice to have you! So far we have danoinark, Tom from Buzzard Bluff, Cameron, streamcaster, glastik, beauglass, myself, Tricky(?), jgestar, dpenrod(?), troutdude(?)

Tom, I neglected to answer your question about the best way to float the rivers. Probably a yak or a canoe would be easiest, and the NFOW is crawling with canoe outfitters. Maybe we can go in together and get one to float the trout water?

Hey all, I figured I would post on here, since it has been three months almost! I am planning on being down there for this clave, however if the price of fuel, and therefore travel keeps rising at this rate, we all may need to seriously consider carpooling. I am excited to get down there and wade in the cold clear waters for some smallies. They can keep the trout I think, I will catch the bass. Well, let's get some folks in here saying if they are coming or not. Thanks a million guys!

Andy,
Are the dates firm or still in the planning stage? I want to try to make the clave but I need to know exact dates so I can put in for vacation time at work. I am looking forward to meeting everyone and reaquainting myself with some old stomping grounds.

Doug

I'm still planning on it too. If possible, we'll drag Tim (oldschoolcane) with us also. Image How many rods do you think we can get in the cars with us?

It looks like the choice of a fall outing was wise, given the high water this spring.

I am wise beyond my years grasshopper ... Tom, a few of us in the area here may want to carpool to save on travel expenses if the days we are going can be organized to work out, and this is an option for all in the KC area to discuss, as I know of so far three of us going from here, and Cameron might be dragging a few folks along also. I am getting more excited for this each time I read this thread. Thanks for making this happen guys.

I am still hoping to make this trip though I have four week long trips this summer, one each month starting next week, and I am not sure the wife is going to let me skate for a long weekend in September. I am still hoping though ...

Andy,

Of course Cameron will be there. He saw my question about how many rods can we get in the car! Cameron is now thinking Phillipsons, Fenwicks, Silaflexes, Actionrods, SA System rods, Heddons, Sage, and a few others.

Grasshopper? That show was over years before you were born! You've got to lay off the late night reruns!

Tom

I am going to have to back out on the clave. I do not have the funds to partake, and as such, should pass it off early to someone else. If you are interested in taking over, post it in the thread. I just cannot afford the trip, with me not working at the time being, and such. I hope everyone has fun, and I want to see lots of pictures.
