Today after working on the snowblower, probably not successfully, I sat down to finish a white crappie. My niece and I always get each other a gift that usually ends up being more gag then gift. Since she has moved to an apartment I thought this crappie would be nice for her. She loves crappies, both catching and eating.
It's nice painting a spawning male crappie on a cold dreary day, makes spring seem a little closer.

Tried not to go with too much black and white. I have a hard time getting a picture that shows the color.

Thank you Doug, Dane and cofisher.
Russell, I might be catching crappies in a few days but I think the methods will be a little different then yours. :-) Looking forward to some fresh crappie pictures.

Too cold to do anything but sit and paint this evening. Had to have a Black Crappie too.

well, after a short nap, i quickly became bored, so I decided to go fishing! pressure was very high today, so i didn't expect much. However, i did catch a nice crappie, 1 sand bass, and a small yellow bass! enjoyed fishing a new creek, today! until i saw how we can destry a creek, by polluting it. This was a beautiful little creek, but typical for an urban creek, we ruin it. Real sad! I hope we all try to make a conservation effort, everytime we go out. Sorry to end on a low note, but we should all be promoting conservation!

the good shots!

Mark and lourdios thank you.

Russell glad you got out to get a few tugs on the line. Pretty fish.
We don't get a lot of junk floating down the river here but what is unseen in the water frightens me more. Not sure whats worse, the farm runoff turning the water brown most of the spring and summer or the street runoff from the city just upstream of me, who knows what is in that. Crappies and smallmouths in good numbers north of the city, mostly rough fish south of it. Not hard to figure that out.

yeah mike, it does. as president of the fort worth fly fishers, we are really going to focus on conservation this year. if we don't all of our creeks may look like this one. that is a shame!
