There has been some discussion about changing the location of the Texas Glassics.
I'd like to throw a couple of suggestions into the hat and encourage others do post
their suggestions, comments, etc. as well.

For Spring: Camp N Fish on the Brazos in Glenrose.
http://www.oakdalepark.com/camp'n'.htm

For Fall: The Campground below the Texoma dam on the Red River
http://www.swt.usace.army.mil/recreat/laketexoma/RecAreaMaps/Damsite.pdf
http://hubpages.com/hub/Fishing-Denison-Dams-Tailrace

We could even rotate locations so that we're not going to the same place over and over.
Let's talk it up. Image

Wild Kingdom is a beautiful place but it is primative camping ONLY.
No electric, water, or potties.

come on. let's be serious here. jack needs to do 2 things. clean up the place, and get rid of the freakin cows! here is the dilema. if he fixes the place up, and word gets out, theres gonna be more people. if he doesn't fix the place up, he's gonna have less people. that is the question? i like fewer people, but better accomodations.

1. for those with boats/yaks ... you can launch (easily) right there on the river and have access to miles of water upstream. Lots of good early sandbass/crappie action on that part of the river.

2. You can try to follow Russell to his supersecret trail leading to sandbass nirvana on the Nolan. I have heard that access may be a little easier this season ... but just a rumor from a friend who works at the courthouse.

3. The water below the Dam, which can be really good in the spring.

4. It is right off of major state hwy ... no mud.

If the link doesn't work just google it ...

Some how the first part of the post didn't make it ...

You may want to take a look at Kimball Bend Park on the Brazos on the North end of Lake Whitney ... It's newly renovated and a damn nice park. It provides lots of options for those who really want to fish ...

Preceding post has details ...

That time of year ... park is pretty well empty ... don't see much of a problem. Just need to make sure you reserve adjoining campsites ... Only reason I suggest it is because of the multi fishing options. Everyone knows I never fish ... just sell used junk ...

i like bud's idea, especailly if we can hit it right on the Nolan. my all time favorite area to fish, in the spring. one thought, and it may work to our advantage, is how much noise will the park attendant tolerate, before they throw Cody out!

Another question some folks will ask is "do they allow alcohol"?

Not kidding, never been to that park. I know that along the river folks drink but is it allowed in the park? I'll call and ask them.

It is allowed ... just have to remain within the the campsite ... also might consider Ham creek park in Johnson county ... new reopened after considerable renovation ... same rules as far as I know ... also chisolm trail park between kimball bend and Ham creek ... all should have more modern facilities ...
