I received the rod yesterday from the UK.. The rod had been in the tube for quite some time.. It really needed a deep cleaning.. The bank has absolutely no marks from getting hit by flies.. The rod sock was spotless and the rod tube was perfect condition along with the original cap with chain.. The first 3 sections were exact lengths, the fourth section was 1/4” longer then first 3. And the tip section was a 1/4” shorter then the first 3.. After describing this to Larry Kenney he said Harry often made the tip 1/4” shorter thinking it would be protected by longer sections.. Who knew?? After a good cleaning and a careful inspection, I took it out for a test cast, I now know what the fuss is all about.. Wonderful casting rod.. WOW.. After that I took some fresh pics and posted some on FB.. Then I remembered I said I’d put both the F70/5 San Francisco and the Winston 703/2 San Francisco Stalker together for a really timeless photo..
So enough chit chat, here’s some pics of the rod!! Then the side by side photos of the two rods together..
please enjoy

ChaseD said the F70/5 needed to be matched with a reel from same era..
Earlier Larry believed the rod was a 1973. So I just happen to have a Ross RR Etna earliest model with a silver foot also made in 1973.. How cool..

Tell us about it...... Please......

The Anniversary is a great rod - it's as if it obeys brain waves and just lands the fly and line the way you want.
