Barck, Richard,
Great reports on the Phillipson Royal.
Could you guys tell me a bit more how the rod fishes?
Does anyone use a lighter 5 or 4wt with it?
I am expecting one and really excited.
Cheers,
Dimi

I know, I know, thread from the dead but I couldn't contain my excitement for having the triplet to Barck and flyfishing4goldentrout's little Phillipson. In fact, if flyfishing4goldentrout's is truly the exact same rod as Barck's, then mine is the exact duplicate of his, right down to the minty Martin MG-3 that I got today to go with it.

Really nice, I've always thought that the Royals and Royal Wands were the prettiest of Phillipsons, specially with the cork seats.

That combo is precious.

The sun on the wraps and the shiny reel seat really set that combo off.

Hello all you Phillipson heads! Awhile back I picked up a beautiful little 6' metal ferruled Phillipson with yellow shafts and simple red wraps...otherwise it has the same black cone shaped handle cap and black knurled slider assembly on the cork handle as my Master 7.5ft....Odd thing is, its only marking is the Small round "Phillipson rods, Worlds Finest" label on the bottom section. (2 pc. rod) Does this sound like a commercial or self-built product? Now its my Favorite rod for 4wt for searun cutts..What a Rod..casts like a Loomis!

Thanks for the reply Jeffsod! So did Phillipson sell do-it-yourself Kits?
Thanks, Davpot

They did. Rick's Rods in Denver had one in stock a while back, may still be there.
