RE> "warm water fishing in Montana"

The big smallmouths come out of Fort Peck Reservoir, particularly so at Hell Creek Bay. I'll go someday. It's dangerous out there. 70mph winds come out of nowhere. You need to stay close to shore or have a big walleye boat.

The rivers are more fun but the smallmouths a lot smaller than the lake. There are Pike Channel Cats Sauger (wild walleyes) and Walleyes too. All in the same place. Carp and Goldeneye too. You catch all of them on flies, with or without added olfactory enhancements. And there ain't nobody there. Not like the trout fishing water anyway. The Wild and Scenic Missouri stretch runs clear in Fall. Right now.

canoed the Wild and Scenic stretch oncet, Fort Benton on down to the reservoir. There were big buffalo (fish) in the riffles too.. did not have a fly rod with me for some peculiar reason, always wanted to go back and try it.. been thirty years now..

those Partner Steel stoves look very solid.
