Thanks, guys! Few more flies you may find useful for the Fall here in NE saltwater:

Peanut Bunker (kanekalon fiber, UV resin):

Silversides (craft fur, EZ body, UV resin):

Musicar -- I like the squid. I like the slender minnows too. EZ body. Good stuff.

jlcampos,

No, not trout flies...these are saltwater flies I use for albacore/bonito here in New England.

Vlad, nice work. I really like the peanut bunker --- is that SF blend? EP fibers? I am just getting started in SW fly tying, and will focus on a basic selection of clousers, surf candies, and flatwings. Any other "must have" flies? Trying to keep it simple...

I used kanekalon fibers which is a hair wig material. I am pretty sure the SF blend has a very similar type of fiber in it too. EP fibers are different-more like polypropylene (finer texture.)

These are flies which match specific bait for the current conditions, and are made for tunoids (not for bass), so they are on the small side: 2-4" approximately. The flies you mention will be a good selection for bass...make some bigger flies with wider profile. For a basic selection striper box I would include clousers, hollow flies, deceivers and some gurglers.

Thanks and hope you get to try them out soon,

Vlad

Thanks Vlad. I just learned about hollow flies and will add to me arsenal. Almost forgot about the gurglers -- I tie some for bass -- they are fun to fish. I'm learning to tie flatwings and will try to post a few pictures.

Small skillet, medium heat, minced garlic and butter (olive oil if you prefer) - cook 1 minute per side, then consume. Delicious!
