Nice, I see some of my favorites. Your box would work well down here in Arkansas as well.

It's amazing how there are always holes in the fly box. I can tie all winter and still not realize I'm missing something until I'm on the water.

I just hope I can get on the water to MAKE some holes! Hasn't been the case the last several years.

No kidding. It's like opening a refrigerator full of food and thinking "there's nothing here to eat". I usually carry 200 flies on the water with me and it seems like half the time I'm looking for something I don't have.

JoeFriday, what will I need to have tied up to bring to the conclave next week. I talked to Matt at The Driftless Angler and he said that there's a lot of black and tan caddis and quite a few craneflies too. Anything you'd recommend?

I'm sure Matt's advice is spot on. Generally you'll be fishing slower water, so for dries you'll want parachutes and comparaduns versus full thorax flies. I probably fish BWO's, Hendricksons and caddis 90% of the time. Size 16-20 is about all you'll need. Basic patterns like Adams will work well. I know a lot of guys swear a Royal Trude is the one can't miss dry for the Driftless, but it never seems to work for me.

For nymphs, scuds and the famous Pink Squirrel are probably best. Pheasant Tail and Prince nymphs are pretty consistent. And you can always try a woolly bugger in deeper pools.
