a lot of carpet is made of antron and other fibers that are buoyant.remember reading about dubbing made from finely scissored carpet fibers.your tying is really unique and interesting.too crappy to fish here and i really dont go all in on my tying til i get on the water,

Here's a Golden Stonefly Carpet Bomber made with much the same materials as the mayfly above.

#16 hopper hook
Yellow Ice Dub spun onto a #10 beading needle, with a bit of fabric cement
Duck flank wing
Carpet Scraps hackle lashed on loosely below and then glued in place permanently.

Clever. Looks like the carpet is even close to the right size clump from the start.

Can you start a roadkill thread too?

Pitt,

In addition to dumpster diving, there are a couple of books out there you might be interested in to enhance your roadkill collecting skills. One is "Flattened Fauna and Other Roadside Oddities," about how to identify what the critter was before squashing, and also the "Roadkill Cookbook." They're hilarious.

In Roscoe Montana there is a Roadkill Cafe--really a bar with a hamburger grill. Inside the bar you can buy T-shirts with logos that say "Where the hell is Roscoe?" and "Roadkill Cafe--from your grill to ours!"

I saw one that said : Roadkill Cafe - You kill it, we grill it.
