Was at TJ Maxx shopping with my wife, I was nosing around the home goods department when I saw this olivewood burl cutting board. It is 13x6" and almost 7/8" for $10. This is going to make some awesome reel seats!!

Pretty sure the only item I’ve ever scored at TJMaxx was underwear.

I will be stopping buy in the future looking for more. Olive lumber is normally expensive.

I can just see you there flipping through the cutting boards, seeing which one has the most figuring.

I put on presentations and I usually go to the HomeGoods and TJ Maxx searching for raffle prizes. I've seen olive cutting boards but never thought beyond whether or not to buy one for a prize.
LOL!
Bob, should I alert you if I spot some thicker olive boards in Johnstown? I'm sure you'll be able to get your wife to go with you when you explain the HomeGoods/TJ Maxx is next door to Bed Bath and Beyond and in the Richland Mall along with a Panera and a Walmart :)

Please keep us posted on the reel seats made from this great TJM find Bob. Cool finding stuff like this and making the connection to your craft.

Nice score! Might look good on, say, a McFarland 9'6" 4wt ;)

Looks like you got some rough dubbing material with it!

You're certainly on the cutting edge of reel seat manufacture.
