Don't know if I'm asking for State Secrets or not, but looking for fiberglass tubing for a rod case that'll fit the 2" brass/aluminum cap components that's readily available. I did find one source but their OD is 2" which is too large for the caps.

Other than having to build one (as per instructions here on the forums), any ideas? And if this is like asking for proprietary special sauce, I understand. Thanks!

What did you find? You might be better off calling landmark tubing and seeing if he will machine you a set of caps to match your tube source.

I've been thinking about this, but wanted to avoid brass caps since they are heavy. I haven't figured out what to use instead.

You don't need to use photo bucket for something that's already on the net. Just copy the image address and use the Img tag.

Carl - I’ve been making my own tubes for awhile using black ABS tubing which is both relatively light and strong. I spray paint the tube using Rustoleum paint for plastic, then finish with a clear coat. As for caps and bottoms, I use both natural and agglomerate cork stoppers intended for use with glass jars and such. I usually order the 2” by 3/4” tapered stopper for both 2” and 1 5/8” diameter tubes. I get them from jelinek.com. I turn the stopper on my lathe to the required OD then step down the lower half to the required ID. The ID should be a snug fit. Expoxy the bottom in place. I figure I’ve spent maybe $4 for each tube. Comparing the weight to comparable aluminum tubes, they don’t weigh anymore.

Still struggling to get Postimage to work for me. So pics of my cork caps will have to wait.

Wow they are pretty proud of that tubing. You could most likely sand down the tube some depending how close it is in size to your cap.
