Had the privilege of acquiring a Phillipson R90 recently. In the past, I have done a couple sand and seals of old grips but never a true repair. Here's the before:

Here's the after

Any pointers would be appreciated and I hope that I have shown the prior owner the proper respect he deserves in making this repair.

I probably banged it going into the PVC tube. It looks great.

It's funny, I didn't notice the ding until I was selling it. I had cast it numerous times and the chip was on the underside so none of my fingers hit it and I didn't see it. It can really let the line fly.

I am waiting to hear how it fishes and if you get out into the salt with it. Or maybe use it with some big poppers for Largemouth.

Thanks Carl,

That means a lot coming from you. And see, cork seal isnt so bad! Where this was a maine rod, I am going to at least take it out on the salt a couple times just on principle. However, this is very much a largemouth rod.

Eric,
is that a crack in the cork grip near the grip check? It looks fragile. You can close it by spreading a thin layer of gorilla glue into the "wound" and then clamp it together. Let it dry overnight and sand any excess dried glue (gorilla glue will expand).
