I have a new planing form that allows me do make very fine tips, and so the first real challenge was to make a #3 rod that has no cork handle, but a so called Mortized Handle. For contructing the handle I made 6 wooden lamella for being inserted between the 6 Bamboo splices in order to form Handle and Reel Seat at once. The result is seen here:

Hadhafang is Arwens Sword in Lord of the Rings. The rod has its own fiberglass tube with a dry fly fish scene and is christened with a special Malt.

The rod is beautiful. I've seen these handles before, but I never realized that the bamboo was exposed there in the handle.

The rod tube is also a great compliment to the rod.
