Very Cool, I love Martins but can't see needing one that big for my fishing. But, I also feel the urge every time I see a MG series reel :)

I mostly fish the flats here in Hawaii for Bonefish so I'm sure it will get used for that if I don't sell it.

A fellow in our club had about 4 or 5 of these in like new condition for sale.I kind of wish I had grabbed one. They have a beast of a drag.

I was worried about switching it to left hand retrieve but it was actually quite easy. Just two screws and flip the drag clutch plate, done. The on off switch for the clicker is nice too. It's nice and wide so it should hold plenty enough backing and work fine for a 6 or 7 weight Bonefish reel. I may pair it up with a old Fenwick.

That's a perfect salty choice for a Fenwick - and for most times when the question comes up of balancing a "heavy" rod.
Make sure you keep Boeshield on it - the clutch plates are steel and will rust.

Great series of pics of that reel. Now if we could just get an audio of it when a bonefish makes a ripping run tomorrow.

I have that sexy spool on an MG-9-D and it sure turns heads. Gotta admit, though, that I keep my Martin discs on silent; they do sort of sound like an old truck with a buggered gear box. :)

Yeah, when I was peeling out line in my yard for a few test casts dogs started barking so I switched to stealth mode.
