I'm just beginning to become interested in old fly reels. Here are two that were passed down from my Father and Grandfather. They seem to be in decent shape.

I have a couple of Heddon Pal rods to restore that might make fine partners for each of these reels. Though, for that to happen, I've got some learning and practice to do. :)

From both your father and grandfather - very cool. That makes them two valuable reels. I hope you enjoy fishing them.

The red JC Higgins (Sears) was first reel I ever bought back in the 1960s. Looked real snazzy on a blue Garcia Conolon. Helped catch many bass and gills and hooked me on fly fishing.

Always thought the reel was Bronson, but not sure.

They look to be in fine shape. Cool to have gear passed down from Dad and Granddad.

The Higgins is of course a Bronson, and the Shakespeare Purist date code dates to '72.
You're off to a great start.

Thank you all for your comments. Will be keeping my eyes open to collecting similarly-sized vintage reels in the future. :)
