Hello everyone,

Well it's been quite a journey for Alexis and I to get to this point but the lines are done and in stock. The website has pricing now and orders can be placed anytime.

We'd like to thank everyone for their patience and help. To that end we'd like to offer you a 10% discount on your first order placed before March 31, 2015. Use coupon code ffr2015 to activate the discount.

We are anxious to hear your thoughts on the lines.

Tom

Are there any local Fly Shops in Montana that carry them in stock so we/I can get an up close and personal look?

Got a URL for the website?

Edit: Don't worry. I found it: http://406flylines.com/

Cheers,

Great news! As I have said before I have been able to cast the WF5 and DT5s on my Western Glass, James Green, and some of Tom's Graywolfs. He nailed this design. They are a must have.

Are the grain wts of the 1st 30 ft of the lines listed somewhere on the 406 web site? A taper profile would be helpful also.

Hello,

I put a generic profile on the box but not on the website. Not a bad idea - let me work on it. The grain weight is right on the AFFTA standard for a given weight line, i.e. a 5 weight line is 140 grains for the first 30' of line. That does not include a 22" - 24" tip.

Tom, maybe you posted it before but are your lines PolyUrethane or PVC?

Hi Cebe,

The lines are PVC. we had originally planned on Polyurethane but the company that was using Polyurethane had significant quality control issues. We than switched over to Scientific Anglers who have been stellar in their support and quality control.

Received mine today, Thanks Tom. Now we just need to warm up a bit and loose the ice so these lines can be tested out.

Yup, got mine today too! I've got them spooled up and ready to go. I'll do some lawn casting tomorrow then hit the water soon. So far I'm very impressed! Very high quality line indeed!

I wanted to add a quick note here about the DT3 & DT4 I recently received from Tom.
These lines are AWESOME. I cast and fished them on my 7'8" 4wt, 7'2" 3wt, and a 6'4" 4wt prototype I'm working on and it's quite possible they have edged out all my preferred lines.
They float well, mend well, cast well, and I feel that I have a great connection the whole time. I'm not sure how he did it, but these are absolutely wonderful lines!
Now I need a 5 & 6wt!
That is all.

CBarclay...interesting note as I thought the 5DT was PERFECT on your 75P fly rod.

Cameron, I was hoping to try them together soon! I left my 75p in the Driftless Angler last week (hopefully I'll get it back?!) but when I get it back I hope to have the DT5 and will give them a go.

Does anyone know what the taper profile of the DT line? That would be really helpful

Headwaters,

The DT tapers are a little different for each line. Generally speaking the tip is 20"-24" and the front taper is 7.5'-12.0' depending on the line weight. They just seemed to work better with a little difference on each line weight. If you have one specific line weight in mind I can give that to you.

Headwaters,

DT 3 wt. has 20" tip and a 7.5' front taper. The total length of the line is 80'.
