ah summer- around my neck of the woods- it is river smallie time.
took out my glass spin rods and mitchell 300 reels the past couple of nights for some smallie action.
throwing curley tails and tubes brought the always entertaining smallmouths to hand.
nothing fights harder than a river smallmouth.
my spin rods and mitchells are 60's vintage glass. .

Today's rods have little on the old stuff. My mid-50's Wonderrod and SB 1400 reel combo is no slouch when it comes to casting or fish handling in the medium class. Back in the day, we couldn't afford a whole quiver full of rods and reels for different situations, and the lake I lived on had some of everything in it. Like they used to say in SCCA races and rallys..."run what you brung."
