I just purchased a Dam Quick 110N ultralight reel.Does anyone have one and how does it perform.I had a 220N years ago but not the little guy.I know these things when new were more expensive than the old green Abu Cardinals. Now I have to find a glass ultra light rod.

I don't fish fresh water with spinning gear very often but when I do I usually use one of my two Dam 110 Microlite reels. All metal construction and very smooth. They don't make them like this any more. They weight a little more then modern ultra light reels but this helps them balance better with old glass and bamboo.

I havent used spinning tackle for years but an ultra light rig might be pretty good.I used to have a Garcia 5 1/2 ft. glass rod that I liked using until I broke the tip off. Thanks for the info.

I had a 110 for years. I gave it to my daughter 20 years ago and she is still using it. As far as I'm concerned, it was the best spinning reel made. The one problem with any of the old spinning reels, is getting parts. But for this reel they hold up forever. Except the bail springs, which are becoming very hard to find. I used the reel on one of my fenwick ultra light rods I still have, a fs60, 6ft and a fs55, 5 1/2 ft. Great combo. I still have a quick Vanessa, which is the next size up. I need a bail spring for it and can't find one. But you have A very good reel, just make sure you back off the drag after each use. That goes for any reel.

I grew up using Quicks. 110's, 220's, 330's if I recall. Several still rolling around here some where, they never get used anymore.
I was not as fond of the "N" series.

Saltfly, I still have some various bail springs. Can you get me some dimensions??

Dam 110 parts seem to be generally available on EBay but not sure about your specific application..

Mejiwench thanks for the offer. But I'm not sure what I will do with that reel. In fact when I went looking for it, I had it in a box with a bunch of other old reels. And to my surprise. I found another 110, which I forgot I had. I normally buy two of any reel I buy. Just in case they stop making it. Forgot I did that with the 110.

Can anybody tell me the difference between the 110 and the 110N?
Visually, there appears to be a sort of lever on the left side of the 110, not sure what it is.

I believe the lever you reference is the antireverse lever. I keep a 110 on my desk at work for a conversation piece. The reel has (to me) an annoying, very solid antireverse click caused by the lever actually jumping as the the handle is turned. As others have said, the DAM 110 is a solid ultralight reel with nothing fragile about it.

Thanks Rick.
I was considering a 110N for my kid's first ultralight reel.
He's 12 and I want to get him a vintage reel that is well built and will last.

FYI there was a series of rods made at the time to match the 110N reel. The one I have is a Quick Finessa UL6056. It's a 5'6" ultra-light spinning rod with a unique rubber covered reel seat. The butt cap unscrewed and the rear grip slid back so the reel foot could be inserted into a recess. There were a couple of different lengths, as well as a version with a conventional aluminum reel seat.

RickWheat-The 110, 220 and 330 had as you say an annoying click. The N models had a much smoother anti reverse.

Older generation DAM Microlite. Modified but with the same lion heart inside after 50 or more years

I played with these and few other reels last two winters. Generally they are still in progress.
Polished Alcedo Micron is especially interesting, anti reverse bearing inside, two bearings in knob. Quite smooth and silent

Cool, do you have a size or bearing part number for the anti reverse bearing for the Micron?

HF0608 One Way Needle Bearing 6 x 10 x 8mm
Drill bushing on handle side. You still have anti reverse for more fish fighting power, but you can be silent. Replace felt drag with carbon and you're good to go :)

I have a Microlite I bought new sometime in the sixties, probably in 65 or 66 since I have read on Orca that the 110 came out in 67. I use it to this day on a Fenwick FS64 (6 1/2', 1-4 lb line). It has a very soft click in anti reverse that I do not find annoying at all. So, I assume that the harsh click was introduced with the 110. Also, I have read on Orca that the 110 could be converted to left hand retreive while the Microlite and 110N cannot. However, mine can, so it may be a transition.

My 110N only has left hand wind retrieve.I guess some came in right hand wind as well.
