I believe he is the only rod builder making rods this way. We cast the Hybrid's at the Western NY glass clave yesterday and the were very well received. Very unique rod with great feel.

One of the best known examples of a graphite rod with a glass scrim is the classic "fish net" style Diamondback. I own a pair of the green Hardys. They're glass with graphite scrims.
At the time, a lot of guys steared clear of those rods because of it. They're medium slow and very much glass in their demeanor.
IMO, how the rod fishes and behaves trumps what it's made of. I'll be eager to cast one of Mike's new "hybrid " rods. The idea of that mix for longer rods just seems to make sense.
